Rural Collection Sites

The Rural County Collection Site system is maintained by the Kootenai County Solid Waste Department, and paid for through the Solid Waste Fee included on your property taxes. This fee also funds the ultimate disposal of residential and commercial waste (the County Transfer Station and Landfill). It does not include the transportation of residential or commercial garbage, which is the prompt, dependable service CGS/PFS provides. If you do not have service provided in your area, you may elect to transport it yourself to one of the sites listed below, or to the County Transfer Station. Kootenai County's disposal policy and fees are summarized below for your convenience.

The following is a list of the most common rates currently charged by Kootenai Country for commercial account services and are subject to change without notice. Country services are billed on a quarterly basis (January/April/July/October).

Names and Locations

Athol: Hwy 95 north to Hwy 54, east to Howard Road

Bell Bay: Hwy 97 - 2 miles north of Harrison Bridge by Fire Station #3

Carlin Bay: Hwy 97 and Carlin Creek Road

Garwood: Intersection of Old Hwy 95 and Hwy 53, west of railroad overpass

Harrison Junction: Intersection of Hwy 9 and Hwy 97

Mica: Hwy 95 South and Kidd Island Bay Road

Rose Lake Junction: I-90 and State Hwy 3 on Hardy Loop

Rose Lake: Hwy 3 at Rose Lake Village

Sun Up Bay (Alexandria): Hwy 95 South and Sun Up Bay Road

Twin Lakes: Hwy 41 North, past Twin Lakes to mile marker #13

Valley: Hwy 3, south of Rose Lake at the Valley Mart Store

Wolf Lodge: I-90 and Wolf Lodge access road

Worley: Hwy 95 South and Cave Bay Road
